Developing Countries: All- Terrain Handcycle
The One Revolution Foundation is designing and producing an All-Terrain Handcycle, much like the vehicle that Chris used during his 2009 climb of Kilimanjaro. The intention is to create opportunity through mobility because the handcycle will give people the opportunity to participate in commerce in their community.
Dave Penney will adapt the current handcycle to create prototypes that can be produced easily and inexpensively. Then, he will take that design to Mobility Cares, an organization based in Tanzania that is dedicated to producing custom wheelchairs. Dave will work with Mobility Cares in order to create a facility, staffed with people with disabilities, to produce handcycles that can be replicated throughout the world. By sharing the technology and partnering with local manufacturers, One Revolution will create a sustainable future for those with disabilities.
